Caledonian Society

The Caledonian Society (Scottish Reeling) is a fairly new addition to the SU societies at only 5 years old, but already, we are a very popular society in the UK University's reeling calendar with students from Durham, Edinburgh, Oxford, Cambridge and London Universities making annual trips to take part in our ball.

At the RAU, we welcome all levels of reelers from beginners to advanced. We are very sociable, we have no joining fee and dance traditional reels every week in order to practice for our main ball at the end of the first term. The dances are very easy to pick up with simple, repeated patters. As a society, we don't take things too seriously, as long as you show enthusiasm, you can wing your way through it!

Our annual ball ticket includes a champagne reception, a 3 course meal with wine, an external photographer, a well known reeling band and an on-site bar selling at tithe prices. All of this for £50, you really can't go wrong! I look forward to welcoming you all next year!
